The Georgia Highlands Lady Chargers softball team competed against South Georgia State at home on a Saturday afternoon on April 6.

With eight hits and five runners batted in, the Lady Chargers won with a final score of 5-1. When asked how she felt about the win, Haley Robinson, right handed pitcher with her fourth win in her last four appearances, exclaimed, “Overall, I think my team played very well. You could tell by being there, or even watching online, that we’ve got great chemistry.”Robinson also said, “Our defense was spot on so that definitely helped us out a lot, and I feel that if we can keep our bats going throughout the whole game that we’d be unstoppable.”

According to sophomore second baseman Sierrah Gani, “This was definitely one of our best weekends. I always try to do what benefits the team the most like getting RBI’s and making all my plays, but I always have room for improvement.” Softball head coach Melissa Wood said, “We had two great team wins today against South Georgia State. Kara Knight and Haley handled their games on the mound and every player on and off the field played an important role today. “Our sophomores are crushing the ball and our freshmen are playing like sophomores. I look forward to a tough battle against East Georgia tomorrow,” Wood also said.
